Feedstock

High-yield bana grass, a fast-growing, non-invasive crop harvested multiple times a year, purpose-grown in Queensland.

Technology

Continuous modular pyrolysis converts the grass to biochars. Syngas byproduct powers the plant, a self-powered, closed loop. No waste streams.

Production

Bio-char is combined with proprietary, patented binders and pressed into pellets and briquettes. The processing plant is next door to the feedstock plantation.

Final Products

Bio-pellets to industry, bio-charcoal to consumers and export, high-protein animal feed to agriculture.

The Production Model

Modular, self-powered, secure supply

SuperChar's continuous pyrolysis plants are fully automated, sealed units with no toxic emissions. Oils and gases produced in processing are consumed in integrated gas turbines, generating all power for the plant and ancillary services. The processing plant sits right next to the bana grass plantation, securing feedstock supply.

The Environmental Case

Every tonne displaces timber charcoal or fossil coal

Wood-based charcoal is a climate killer: it takes over 6 tonnes of wood, typically more than 10 years old, to make one tonne of charcoal, driving the plundering of rainforests and mangroves across Africa and Asia.

SuperChar's planned production rollout can eliminate the annual destruction of over 750,000 trees. We will show source verification on all charcoal packaging for full supply-chain transparency. It has been proven that SuperChar bio-coal can replace up to 30% of the coal used in power station electricity generation.
